Dr. Haberlander has read Physics, Astronomy and Mathematics at the University of Bonn. In his doctoral thesis he investigated magnetic properties of excited states of nuclei of two gadolinium isotopes.

From April 1988 to June 2005, Dr. Haberlander worked in the Intellectual Property division of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft, initially providing IP care for the Power Generation division. From 1996 to 2001, Dr. Haberlander headed a group providing IP support for the Corporate Technology division. In that context he was involved in the founding of Infineon AG and EPCOS AG by Siemens Aktiengesellschaft.

From 2001 to 2005, Dr. Haberlander headed a group providing IP care for the Automotive division of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft, and in that assignment accompanied the merger of that division with a company acquired by Siemens Aktiengesellschaft.

From 2005 to 2017, Dr. Haberlander headed a group providing IP support for the product division Laundry Care of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH.

In 2018 and 2019, Dr. Haberlander worked for the Chinese-German law firm HUASON Patent Attorneys and Attorneys-at-Law.

Dr. Haberlander has qualified as a Europeant Patent Attorney in 1992 and has been admitted as a German Patent Attorney in 2019.

Dr. Haberlander holds knowledge and experience managing IP rights, including the development and implementation of corresponding strategies, as well as in the field of the German law on employee inventions and IP-related contractual law.

Dr. Haberlander has experience in IP-related care including patent application procedures, oppositions and appeals, in particular before the European Patent Office. He has experience in particular in the following fields of technology: Power Generation Technology (generators, steam turbines, gas turbines, material technology including superconductors), Manufacturing Technology (laser technology, metal forming, injection moulding), Semiconductor Technology (silicon carbide as a semiconductor, semicondoctor components), Electric Technology and Data Processing (Controls, sensorics, electric machines, human-machine-interfaces, networks), Automotive Technology (fuel cell systems, engine controls, indicator systems, airbag systems), and Household Appliances (washing machines, laundry dryers, heat pumps).

Dr. Haberlander speaks and works in German and English. He also has skills in French and Spanish.
